Gabriela Manista from the CHC Digital Humanities Centre was invited to speak at the conference organised by the Faculty of Journalism, Information and Book Studies at the University of Warsaw.

Her presentation addressed the role of digital technologies in contemporary museums, arguing that rather than viewing technologies such as XR and AI as universal solutions, we should focus on how well they respond to the specific functions of museums and the needs of diverse audiences.

The presentation also introduced the infrastructure perspective through the work of the HERIFORGE Hubs, illustrating how museums are part of a wider ecosystem connecting cultural institutions, researchers, technology providers, and society. This collaborative approach is at the core of the work we are developing within the HERIFORGE project.

The conference also promoted the new Master’s programme “New Technologies in Cultural Institutions”, launching in the 2026/27 academic year at the University of Warsaw. The programme focuses on developing practical skills for applying digital technologies in libraries, archives, and museums (LAM/GLAM).

We are keeping our fingers crossed for this new programme. Its vision closely aligns with the ambitions of the HERIFORGE Hub in Poland, and we look forward to opportunities for future collaboration in strengthening digital capacity across the cultural heritage sector.
